Fall Fashion Must Haves

Y’all, it’s no surprise that 2020 has been nothing like any of us have expected. And now, it’s time to transition into Fall.
While I love Summer, I love a good season transition, because that means the chance to switch out our wardrobe.
Fall, especially the start of Fall offers us so many possibilities. Here in Kentucky, it’s still warm, so we have to be ready for anything. Well y’all let’s face it, here in Kentucky, we have to be ready for all seasons every day of the year. The weather changes at a moment’s notice.
As we transition into Fall, there are five elements I think are perfect to have in your closet: anything gingham, a jumpsuit, 3/4-length sleeve jacket, a hat and the perfect shoes.
Navy gingham is the perfect print to transition seasons. It’s fun, casual and great for Kentucky. I styled two different versions of navy gingham.
The first- an Elizabeth Wilson Designs skirt. I paired this fun skirt that features navy pom-poms with this cute tee from Draper James, and since it’s still hot, some navy bow flip flops. I have a very preppy style and that jives so great with Elizabeth Wilson Designs. When I found her line, I was instantly obsessed. When I thought I couldn’t love her line any more, I found out she’s from here in Lexington and loved her designs even more!
The second way I styled navy gingham- a tie-waist shirt dress from J. Crew Factory. J. Crew has been a staple for me for years. Their pieces are classic, timeless, and last forever. I paired this dress with a pair of cowboy boots and a Susan Shaw cotton pearl necklace. This outfit is perfect for work, dinner or even possibly an afternoon at the races at Keeneland. It’s perfect to transition into Fall because it’s light, has movement and of course, is still comfortable.
If you’re around me for too long, you’ll see me wearing a romper or a jumpsuit. I feel like jumpsuits get a bad reputation, because many people think they aren’t the right shape or size for a jumpsuit. I would absolutely say that’s not the case. I’m a petite, 5’4” and am always finding jumpsuits to wear. You just have to find the right one. This jumpsuit is another find from J. Crew Factory. I love the trouser leg and the tie at the waist. I paired it with a Fall hat and an open-toe shoe heel. I love this outfit for the start of Fall because it brings in some Fall tones and feeling, without you being too hot.
Lastly, in my book, you need to have the perfect 3/4-length sleeve jacket. I found this one at Draper James. I love the peplum sleeves. This jacket is perfect for pairing over a sleeveless top when it gets a little chilly. This jacket would look great with jeans or even a dress.
Fall is such as special time of year for fashion. There are so many fun pieces for layering and transitioning from the hot Summer to crisp Fall.
