Happy Honeymoonin' in Jamaica

After saying “I do,” there’s nothin’ better than celebrating with some rest & relaxation…,

Months before I walked down the aisle, we started planning our sweet honeymoon getaway. Kyle & I are always busy, so we wanted to go somewhere tropical where we could rest, relax and have fun.

After doing some research, Kyle suggested Jamaica! About all I knew about the island was that it was known for reggae music & that my momma and daddy honeymooned there.

Kyle & I decided on Sandals Ochi in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It’s an all-inclusive resort fit for a king & queen. We booked a room with an ocean view, an excursion to hike Dunn’s River Falls & even a spa day. While we had those activities booked, we knew we would get into many other adventures.

Just over 12 hours after becoming husband & wife, donning our bride & groom baseball tees & matching Converse, Momma dropped Kyle and I off at Blue Grass Airport to take off on our grand adventure. Y’all, I remember the butterflies of excitement fluttering around in my stomach.

It was a whirlwind of 24 hours! We flew from Lexington to Charlotte, then into Montego Bay, Jamaica, where we took a shuttle to the resort.

Room with a View

Upon arrival at the picturesque Sandals Ochi, we were greeted with glasses of champagne and smiling faces. We explored the resort & found our beautiful room with a view.

While touring the resort, we found pools that looked almost too pretty to swim in, restaurants offering every type of cuisine & so much more.

On our second night in Ocho Rios, Kyle told me he had a surprise for me. It was a candlelight dinner on the beach. The evening was so romantic!

From the sunset under the stars, beautiful table decor, the scrumptious food and tasty Prosecco…my mouth is watering just thinking about it all. The dinner ended with beautiful desserts complete with edible chocolate that said “Congratulations.”

If you ever go, I absolutely recommend booking a candlelight dinner! It is the perfect way to relax with your hubby and be completely in the moment.

Sandals Ochi Entertainment

One of my favorite parts of our trip- all of the entertainment! The Sandals Ochi Resort offers so many activities.

When we arrived, we were handed an itinerary for the week that included everything going on at the resort. Each morning, we also received a “newspaper” at our door that had all of the happenings of the day.

Every night has something to offer. One night we went to the
”Opening Ceremony” party, where Kyle and I even squared off in a dance contest. I won’t mention who won (haha). Another night, we took in the “White Chocolate Party,” where everyone wears white and nearly everything in sight is drenched in sparkles or white chocolate. It was quite simply magical!

By night we took in the entertainment, and most days, we found the party at the pool or on the beach!

I would both advise anyone taking a trip to Sandals Ochio to make friends with the staff! The majority are locals, and know how to make sure you have the best time while you’re at the resort. Kyle & I made a lot of friends with the Entertainment Staff. They filled us in on all of the “must-do” activities, events & restaurants to try.

Speaking of restaurants…Y’all, I’m still dreaming of the fresh pasta we ate at Valentino’s Cucina Romana.

The food at every restaurant we tried at the resort was exquisite! From breakfast buffets with mimosas, to lunch delivered poolside and dinner at a variety of restaurants, it’s safe to say, we didn’t go hungry.

For dinner, it’s best to make reservations to ensure that you can get the prime experience. At the beginning of our week in paradise, we looked at the list of restaurants and decided which we wanted to go to each night. After making working with the concierge service, everything was set, and we had nothing to worry about.

To round out the end of our oasis, we kicked it up a notch by hiking Dunn’s River Falls. I am not an outdoorsy girl, by any means, but I had the best time! The falls are breathtakingly beautiful & a total must-see while you’re in Jamaica.

To slow it down before we headed back home to really start our lives as hubby & wifey, we enjoyed a couples massage under a cabana on the dock. Talk about relaxing and peaceful! There’s not much better in life than getting a massage next to your hubby while hearing the sounds of the ocean. After our massages, we were handed mimosas, as we relaxed & watched the water.

After a week in paradise, it was so hard to come back home. Traveling to Jamaica with my hubby so much fun! We made memories to last a lifetime & visit again.
