Happy Birthday Horses!

Visit Horse Country, Y’all!

Kentucky is special, y’all! It’s the “Horse Capital of the World!”

Mill Ridge Farm

When I was young, I took for granted that I could leave my home in the suburbs, drive through horse country, then go to school in downtown Lexington. The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized just how special that truly is.

I’m a Kentucky gal who has never ridden a horse…but, I know & love how special my old Kentucky home is.

Did you know that all Thoroughbreds celebrate their birthday on January 1st? I didn’t either, until I was invited to a horse birthday party last month. The universal January 1st birthday (August 1st in the Southern Hemisphere), makes it easier to keep track of Thoroughbred bloodlines. It also makes it easier for racing purposes.

Feeding Horses Carrots

Last month I was invited to celebrate National Day of the Horse & Thoroughbreds’ Birthday at Mill Ridge Farm. It was so much fun, and I learned so much!

We celebrated by having carrot cake & feeding the horses carrots. They loved it!
