A Kentucky Quarantine

“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful. That will be my life.”

-Elsie de Wolfe

COVID-19. coronavirus, the virus. pandemic…who would have ever dreamed that this would be the world we’re living in.

A world of working remotely, nearly everything closed, cancelled or postponed. My hearts and prayers go out to everyone working on the front lines of this horrific tragedy. While we can send messages of hope of faith, the biggest impact that we can have is to stay home.

Hubby. our sweet fluffy Maltipoo & I have been hunkering down in our home, only going out to get groceries.

With an empty calendar, what is one to do?

I, like many 20-something gals, keep a full calendar. When we were first told to stay #HealthyAtHome, I thought, “This will be great! I can get some rest and lounge at home.” But y’all, that feeling only lasts so long.

So. Hubby and I have gotten creative!

Game night is not just one night a week; it’s nearly every night now! Hubby and I have played Otrio, Uno, various card games and even Hedbanz. We’ve always loved playing games, but now, we’re taking a new appreciation.

Y’all, I also picked up an old hobby, needle-pointing. This was a hobby I picked up in college, but of course, got busy. With extra time, and trying to keep my mind occupied, I picked up my old hobby. I have finished needle-pointing two keychains that are now ready to be backed with leather. Here in Lexington, our local needle-point shop, The Eye of the Needle is still open for curbside service or shipping.

I’ve also been enjoying a good book during this time of quarantine, “Find Your Path” by Carrie Underwood. Y’all, it’s so refreshing! Carrie tells of her trials with working out, and gives you a breath of fresh air full of motivation to enjoy movement with purpose. Carrie and her trainer give workout tips, new moves to try and even a workout that can serve as a game with a deck of cards. Y’all, I can’t wait to try that one out.

Find Your Path

While I cannot wait until we can visit family, go shopping and have gatherings, I will still cherish our simple time at home.
